A New Way to Treat TMJ
This is your sub-headline
EMFACE® for TMJ & Tension Relief is a non-invasive treatment designed to help relax overworked jaw muscles and reduce the discomfort that can come from clenching and grinding. Using a combination of gentle radiofrequency (to warm tissue) and HIFES™ muscle stimulation (to contract and re-educate the muscles), EMFACE targets the muscles most commonly involved in jaw tension—especially the masseter—without needles and with little to no downtime.
Sessions are quick and feel like a warm sensation with rhythmic muscle contractions. Over a series of treatments, many clients notice their jaw feels less tight, with reduced muscle soreness and fewer tension-related headaches. Because jaw tension can be driven by stress, habits, and muscle overactivity, EMFACE is often chosen as a comfortable, technology-based option to support relaxation and improved muscle balance.
This treatment may help with:
- Jaw tightness from clenching or grinding
- Soreness or fatigue in the jaw muscles
- Tension-related headaches
- A “heavy” or overworked feeling in the jaw
What to expect:
- No needles, no injections, and minimal downtime
- A series of sessions is typically recommended for best results
- Mild temporary muscle fatigue afterward (similar to a workout) can occur
- Results build gradually and vary from person to person
Important note: TMJ symptoms can have multiple causes, including dental bite issues and joint-related concerns. EMFACE is not a medical or dental treatment for structural TMJ disorders and is not a substitute for diagnosis or care from a dentist/physician. We’ll review your symptoms and health history during your consultation to confirm candidacy and set clear expectations.
FAQs
What is EMFACE® for TMJ and jaw tension?
EMFACE® is a non-invasive treatment that uses synchronized radiofrequency (gentle warming) and HIFES™ muscle stimulation (rhythmic contractions) to target overworked jaw muscles—most commonly the masseter. The goal is to help reduce muscle tension from clenching/grinding and support a more relaxed, comfortable jaw.
Is this a medical treatment for TMJ disorder?
No. EMFACE® is not a medical or dental treatment for structural TMJ disorders, joint damage, or bite alignment issues. It may help with muscle-related jaw tension, but it is not a substitute for diagnosis or care from a dentist or physician.
Who is a good candidate?
You may be a good candidate if you experience jaw tightness, clenching or grinding (bruxism), tension-related headaches, or soreness/fatigue in the jaw muscles. We’ll review your symptoms, health history, and goals to confirm whether this is appropriate for you.
Who should not get EMFACE® for TMJ?
You may not be a candidate if you have certain implanted electronic devices (for example, a pacemaker), are pregnant, have active skin infections in the treatment area, or have other contraindications. We’ll go over a full safety screening during your consultation.
What does the treatment feel like?
Most clients describe a warm sensation on the skin along with strong but tolerable rhythmic muscle contractions in the jaw area. There are no needles. Comfort levels vary, and we can talk you through what to expect before we begin.
How long does a session take?
Appointments are typically short - about 30 mins.
How many treatments will I need?
A series of 6 sessions, twice a week, is usually recommended for best results to start. The ideal number and spacing depends on your symptoms, muscle activity, and goals, and we’ll outline a plan for you at your visit.
When will I notice results?
Some clients feel relief in jaw tightness relatively quickly, while others notice changes more gradually as the muscles adapt over the course of the series. Results vary from person to person.
Is there downtime?
There is little to no downtime. You may have temporary redness or a mild “worked out” feeling in the jaw muscles after treatment, but most clients return to normal activities right away.
Can EMFACE® help with headaches?
If your headaches are related to jaw clenching, muscle tension, or tight masseter muscles, EMFACE® may help reduce that tension. Headaches can have many causes, so we’ll discuss your symptoms and may recommend medical or dental evaluation when appropriate.
Will this replace Botox® for TMJ or jaw clenching?
Not necessarily. EMFACE® and neuromodulators (like Botox®) work differently. Some clients prefer a non-injectable option, while others may be better suited to injections or a combined approach. We’ll recommend what’s most appropriate based on your symptoms and goals.
Is it safe?
EMFACE® is non-invasive and generally well-tolerated when performed on appropriate candidates. As with any treatment, there are potential risks and side effects, and individual results vary. We’ll review benefits, limitations, and safety considerations before treatment.
What should I do before and after my appointment?
Before: come with clean skin and let us know about any medical conditions, dental appliances, or recent treatments. After: follow any aftercare instructions we provide. Most clients can return to normal skincare and activities the same day.
Can I combine EMFACE® TMJ treatment with other services?
Often, yes. Depending on your goals, EMFACE® may pair well with other aesthetic or wellness treatments. We’ll help you space treatments appropriately and avoid anything that could irritate the area.
